At the Heart and Stroke Foundation, our goal is to reduce deaths due to heart disease and stroke by 25% by 2020. This goal is ambitious but critical as heart disease and stroke take 1 in 3 Canadians before their time. Achieving this goal would amount to saving 25,000 Canadian lives each and every year!

Your support is giving Canadians longer, fuller lives.
Funding life-saving research is vital to extending the lives of Canadians. The Foundation's investment in research has made a significant impact benefiting those suffering from heart disease and stroke. We're funding research projects across Ontario in critical areas including:

• Increasing the number of treatment options for Canadians who suffer a stroke
• Discovering the causes of congenital heart defects and developing new treatments that can heal a baby's heart - even before it is born
• Giving Canadians who suffer a cardiac arrest the best chance at surviving with 3,000 AEDs placed across the province
• Addressing gaps in resources for adults and children living with heart disease

There is still much more to do!
Almost 70,000 Canadians die each year from heart disease and stroke and 90% of us have at least one risk factor that can lead to the development and potentially early onset of these deadly diseases. Our family, our friends, our fellow Canadians ? they all deserve long, full lives, but too many are being cut short.
